Negative Elevation
In the 1950's, construction on the Flevopolder was started, resulting in the biggest artificial island in the world, 6 meters under sea level. I was born on this island and have always had a fascination for it. In a process where both nature and technology work closely together, this piece of reclaimed land is able to exist. Negative Elevation is a research through the reclamation process, the visual artifacts of the island and the control of humans in nature through technology.Â
